Leadership is a composite term.
It's one of the characteristics which has been most mulled over, talked about and penned down. In order to encapsulate the wider picture, the few rudimentary traits of leadership can be briefed as under:
Taking Initiative
What spurs the opportunity to one to lead is taking initiative when the rest either fears to dare or awaits the right time.
Being Visionary
We are given a number of opportunities to spearhead yet we flunk to come up to the level. Why,,,,,,,,,, because we in fact fail to have a vision and define it as purpose to where you are heading to and end up to.
Building Empathy
Remember it takes teamwork to do the dream work and empathy is what turns a group of individuals into a team. So the leader must be empathetic and let the team know that you care to be one of them.
Crisis Management
A leader's journey is not a bed of roses but a pathway filled with thorns. A leader must know how to smoothen his way out of the woods of crisis like conflicts, resource shortfalls, demotivation, temporary setbacks, etc.
Leadership Legacy
Leaders produce leaders, They lay footprints, guidepost and a trail to pursue in order to be leaders of the future. A leader leaves a legacy for the upcoming ones as old ones are destined to be replaced by the new ones.
One can not put an end to this theory of leadership as there are many schools of thoughts working over this subject and the research would definitely go the extra mile. However, these 5 traits are simple enough to be followed so as to emerge as an effective leader and the rest of the characteristics would simply sharpen the saw.
